Tina Janssen-Spinosa

Tina is an experienced Elder Law attorney and public speaker on Elder Law topics.  She joins Lamson & Cutner as a partner in the firm.

Her goal in law practice has always been to help clients explore their options regarding their health care and estate planning, and then assist them in implementing their plans and securing their future and the future of their loved ones.

Tina worked for many years at the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG), where she became a Senior Staff Attorney and Program Director.  She initiated and led the expansion of Total Life Choices, NYLAG’s advance planning program.  More recently, Tina managed and coordinated the Enhanced Multidisciplinary Team Program for the Center for Elder Abuse Solutions at Weill Cornell Medicine.   

Tina has given numerous presentations on Elder Law topics for both NYLAG and Weill Cornell Medicine.  She has spoken at senior centers, houses of worship, community centers; and to groups of medical professionals.  Topics have included Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Estate Planning, Medicaid, and Elder Abuse. 

Tina is the author of  Why Didn’t Anyone Tell Me?: Medical, Financial, and Estate Planning to Protect Yourself and Your Family, a book published in 2022.   Her book explains the steps people need to take to prepare for significant life and death events.  It also discusses how planning — and lack of planning— can impact them and their family.   Tina’s book has many 5-star reviews from readers who found it, for example, “Insightful, thorough, and absolutely essential for EVERYONE.”

Tina earned her law degree from the Université Cote d’Azur in Nice, France.  She also attended Brooklyn Law School, where she earned a Foreign Trained Lawer Certificate.  Tina was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 2000.  She is the recipient of a Citation from the New York State Bar Association for Special Achievement in Public Service.  Tina is a member of the Elder Law and Special Needs Section and the Trusts and Estates Section of the New York State Bar Association.

In her free time Tina enjoys reading and the practice of yoga.
